Hamburgers and RVs

At the bequest of my girlfriend I worked at Sirpilla RV the spring and summer of 1993

I can remember eating pretty much the same thing every day. There was a joint down by the interstate exit called "Hamburger Station" . I would bring it back to the Sirpilla lunch room, or better yet, eat it all in my car while listening to the stereo. It was during those times that I would think things like "I wonder what I will be doing in the future" or come up with a new idea for my car audio system or what guitar I might want to buy (I had hocked mine to get the car).

It's a funny thing to be 18 years old and know, for certain, that your life looks nothing at all today as it will in the future.

The occasional gardener

When I lived in Lore City as a kid I could be found riding my bike around 'backstreet'. It was then that I would notice a man mowing his lawn in overalls, a foam front ball cap, thick brown plastic frame glasses. And a red bandana wrapped around his neck to cover the hole where his adam's apple used to be. A nice guy that had lost his ability to speak.

Save the bunnies!

I remember drawing a first person picture of a gun barrel aimed at a rabbit during 'art class' in the 7th grade. It also had a title that I can't remember... something like 'dont hurt me!'.

This was done to infuriate a fellow classmate for a quarrel we were having at the time. You see he was an avid hunter. It worked - he even brought his mom in to see it hanging on the wall there under the chalk board, pouting the whole way.

I remember sensing the nuns got a kick out of this stuff... the drama of it all.
